Original 11x15 inch mixed media painting on paper. Created with handmade watercolor paper using a variety of materials inclucing watercolor, acrylic, and collaged elements of tissue paper, and my own hand-painted papers.
The process of creating these is a technique called 'negative painting' - I fill the paper with color and symbols, then use white paint to paint around the dragon, effectively painting what is not there, almost like carving. The process itself is very symbolic, as well as the beauty of the end result.
